Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? – Seth Godin
Aug. 3, 2010 – My newest favorite book of all time! Seth Godin cleared away my self doubts about the choices I’ve made in my life and my career. I was early to “step up” and rejected “fitting in.” His discourse on art, gifts, generosity, love and relationships all make perfect sense to me. My quest was not to be “indispensable” but to be true to myself. Turns out the business world might be ready to value more highly the people who seek truth on many levels, who challenge the status quo, and who understand the power of “leading from the middle.” That is a term I used frequently in my days of living the corporate lifestyle. Now I’ve chosen to lead only myself and to connect with others by giving the gift of my art. I LOVE that Seth has made these terms and concepts part of a new business lexicon! They were always there, we just didn’t talk about them in this way. I think he’s identified a new movement – a good one! I highly recommend this book.
