The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century

June 13, 2010 – This is a fascinating read – a real page turner. Author George Friedman does an excellent analysis of the geo-political and economic factors that affected events in the 20th century. It is the foundation of his predictions going forward as he rolls out his vision of what the shifting global landscape will look like for the next 100 years. At one point in the book, it reads very much like science fiction. Not that I doubt that what he describes as possible or even probable. I just found it a sharp shift from the rest of the book and much harder to wrap my mind around. I would recommend the book to anyone. It puts into sharp focus many factors we do not take into account when assessing how we got where we are, and what factors will most dramatically affect our future as a country and as a culture.
