The Wine House – Fairfax City, VA

My husband Tom fell in love with The Wine House before he fell in love with Fairfax City. (But not before he fell in love with me!)  I think we first went there following a Steven Pearlstein lecture at George Mason University in March.  It was raining.  The food was fantastic, the wine delicious and the evening memorable.

Delicious!

I have been a fan of The Wine House since I first dined there with friends in November of 2008. The place has a California feel to it (according to my friend Nancy Pav) and it has a personality reflective of its omnipresent co-founder Michael Pearce.  His distinctive New Zealand accent can be heard around the restaurant as he meets and greets, making sure everyone is enjoying the food and wine.

Beyond the wonderful selection of wines, the food is consistently outstanding. Chef Jeremy Hand uses seasonal ingredients and it’s always a delight to see what’s been added to the menu.  The portions are perfectly sized and leave us satisfied.  No lugging home take out boxes or feeling stuffed.

The Wine House has become Tom’s “go to restaurant” of choice and we love entertaining people there as well. It is a jewel in the crown of the Old Town Village area of downtown Fairfax City with free garage parking right next door! Check it out if you haven’t experienced it yet.
